Take the free PumpShotgun
The community quick-start is unambiguous: the PumpShotgun is free and the only free A-tier weapon on the September tier list. A close-range A-tier at zero cost is the strongest starting position a new account can have.
Hood Rivals progression is a ladder you can actually see: six official kill badges below you, level-gated guns beside you, and a reported level-40 Ranked gate above. This guide walks the ladder in the order a new account meets it.

Hours 0–3, roughly. Nothing here costs Robux.

1v1 and Free For All put every fight on you with no teammate consequences. Gun Game hands you the guns you have not unlocked yet — free trials of the A-tiers before you spend cash on any of them.
1.59 million players hold the 10-kill badge and 622,109 hold 50 — they are session-one and session-two milestones, not grind targets. The first badge that deserves planning is 200.
Documented unlock routes. Source: Publisher site (allthings.how, updated Sep 1, 2026).
Route one is levels. Official text: “Level up to unlock new guns.” Every match feeds it; nothing else to optimize because the curve is unpublished.
Route two is the ARMORY safe, and it is faster. The lobby safe sells guns for in-game cash. The documented order: open the safe via “Unlock New Guns!”, buy the ARP for 2,500 cash as the first real purchase (the guide explicitly says skip the 2,000–5,000 cash cosmetic crates until the ARP is yours), and test every purchase at the GUN RANGE before queueing with it.
Where cash comes from: match play. Payout amounts are unpublished — the only official anchor is the 50 Cash / 5 Robux product. If the safe feels slow, the answer is more matches, not the cash bundles; run the numbers on the resource calculator before ever opening your wallet.
Official milestones with award counts from the Roblox badges API, checked 2026-10-14. Each threshold is a different kind of account.
The first real checkpoint — most players who pass the tutorial reach it. Awarded 1,901,039 times.
Roughly one solid session for a new account. Awarded 743,390 times.
Where casual players and regulars separate. Awarded 189,341 times.
A regular's badge — consistent weeknight play. Awarded 51,113 times.
Fewer than one in four hundred accounts holds it. Awarded 13,068 times.
The rarest listed badge — a few hundred accounts game-wide. Awarded 287 times.
Use these as honest checkpoints, not chores: the 200 badge (3.3% of players) marks a regular, the 500 badge (0.9%) marks a committed one, and 1,000 (0.23%) puts an account among fewer than fourteen thousand holders game-wide. The kill calculator measures your bracket progress against each one.
Ranks, MMR, rewards, seasons, and party rules for Ranked are unpublished. The site treats the level-40 gate as community-documented, not official.
The official description advertises 'Compete In RANKED !' and has since launch; the August title briefly carried a [RANKED 🏆] tag. The game’s identity text — streaks, “Will you be #1?”, the global leaderboard — is built around competitive play, so Ranked is the direction of travel even where details are missing.
A September 2026 publisher guide (allthings.how) reports that Ranked queuing is gated behind reaching level 40 — queue earlier and the game returns a level requirement message. A September gameplay creator (MiniBloxia) says the same. Practical reading: levels are the Ranked currency, which makes every kill-farming session double as Ranked preparation.
Progression never requires Robux as far as anything is documented — but if a budget exists, this is the order that respects the game's own math.
x5 cases (169.8 per case) and +5 spins (79 per spin) are the only real discounts in the catalog. The discount is value only if the fifth one was already the plan.
R700 Prestige (849) and AK Prestige (949) at the October 4 prices — both rose since August, so recheck before saving toward one. Skins are identity, not power.
The 8/19/49/99 ladder is designed to be tempting at the worst moment. A squad that queues its real win-rate mode never builds the habit.
Community-documented weapon tiers (September 1, 2026, allthings.how) — the unofficial answer to 'what am I building toward'.
| Tier | Weapons | Progression reading |
|---|---|---|
| S | ASVAL, AR-DRUM, ARP, R700 | Consistent damage at range with no dead zones; the safe primaries. |
| A | AK74U, 223Rifle, ASYALD (the ASVAL drum, as spelled there), Glock20Auto, PumpShotgun | Strong picks; the PumpShotgun is the only free A-tier weapon. |
| B | FNEXT, Roni, BabyARP, Deagle, 50Caliber | Workable with practice; mostly outclassed up a tier. |
| C | Glock, P320, Magnum, Sawedoff, RPG | Situational — swaps, memes, or very close quarters. |
The official description says 'Level up to unlock new guns' — levels gate weapons. The XP curve and level thresholds are not published anywhere, but levels rise as a side effect of playing matches, so progression advice concentrates on what levels buy: the armory guns and (reported) Ranked access at 40.
A September 2026 publisher guide documents two routes: leveling and the lobby ARMORY safe, which sells guns for in-game cash and is described as the faster route. Its quick-start is the free PumpShotgun first, then the ARP at 2,500 cash, testing recoil at the GUN RANGE before spending on anything else.
It is community-documented, not official. A September 2026 publisher guide (allthings.how) reports that queuing Ranked before level 40 returns a level-requirement message, and gameplay creators describe the same gate. No official source has published Ranked rules, ranks, or rewards — treat the gate as the current best information and verify in-game.
Follow the community tier list's logic: the free PumpShotgun covers close range at A-tier, the ARP at 2,500 cash covers mid, and the S-tier long-range pick (the R700 platform) is where dedicated saving points. Robux 'Prestige' products exist for the same platforms but are cosmetics-plus-convenience purchases, not requirements — nothing published says product guns outperform unlocked ones.
The published ceiling is the 5,000-kill badge (198 holders at the October 2026 check), TOP10/TOP100 leaderboard logos, and a maxed inventory of skins from cases and the limited shop. There is no published prestige or reset system — the endgame is the leaderboard.
